Job Summary:
Reporting to the Manager, Underwriting Services, Underwriting Service Representative (USR) is responsible for providing administrative and data entry service to Underwriting teams. The primary duties include, processing new business, renewals, and MTA’s. The USR also directs incoming service requests to the appropriate business sector Underwriter in a timely manner and in accordance with National SLA’s.
Job responsibility:
• Triaging incoming service request to appropriate Underwriting team.
• Issue, endorse, upload or cancel policies following underwriting policies/procedures ensuring accuracy and completeness of information, with close attention to detail.
• Assist in processing requests received by the underwriting department i.e. IBC error correction, letters of experience, loss runs, ordering inspections, BOR’s, rectifying premium discrepancies, etc.
• Processing internal/external correspondence and requests received by the underwriting department
• Complete a variety of technical and administrative duties to provide effective execution of customer service requests.
• Familiarize and apply best business practices towards regional service and quality standards and policies. Maintain a solid understanding of systems, workflows, guidelines for assigned product lines to fulfill work assignments.
• Maintain all electronic files for assigned underwriting files.
• Respond to co-worker inquiries and requests in a timely manner and provide professional customer service.
• Work closely to develop and maintain positive business partnerships with brokers and co-workers.
• Make recommendations to improve the department and increase efficiency
• Participates in projects/assignments as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.
Experience & Qualification requirements:
• Post-secondary education and/or equivalent on the job experience.
• Previous experience in an office environment, preferably in the property and casualty Insurance industry is an asset.
• Intermediate computer skills with the ability to learn new applications.
• Intermediate Microsoft Office (Excel and Word) skills.
• Advanced data entry skills.
• Actively pursuing CIP designation an asset.
• Bilingual (English / French) is a definite asset
