Job Summary:
As a key member of the Research and Evaluation team, you will support Pathways’ impact by leading quantitative research and analysis to deliver on initiatives that align with our strategic plan. This includes supporting our program evaluation work, conducting a market analysis to inform the program’s expansion strategy and synthesizing literature, research and best practices on topics related to our mission. Reporting to the Manager, Evaluation, you will be primarily responsible for designing and programming surveys, analyzing primary data from surveys and secondary data such as Census and other Statistics Canada data to further our understanding of the socioeconomic characteristics of the communities that Pathways serves.

As the successful candidate, you have experience analyzing quantitative data. You are a strong communicator with exceptional writing skills with the ability to make complex research accessible for a variety of audiences. With an interest in educational research, you are passionate about creating positive social change nationwide by raising awareness of the barriers affecting youth living in contexts of socioeconomic disadvantage.

Job responsibility:

  • Lead the design and programming of surveys for youth, alumni and other relevant stakeholders to support program evaluation
  • Lead statistical analysis of primary and secondary data, including surveys, Census and support synthesis of findings across different data sources to look at the program’s short-term and long-term impact
  • Conduct literature reviews, environmental scans and research on best practices on topics related to Pathways’ mission and summarize for various audiences (e.g., research on indicators of program effectiveness)
  • Support research and evaluation projects, including research design, data collection, analysis and synthesizing findings
  • Develop presentations and data dashboards to summarize actionable insights from various data sources for internal and external stakeholders
  • Contribute to knowledge mobilization and thought leadership efforts, in collaboration with the Programs and Marketing and Communications team
  • Facilitate interdepartmental collaboration to support data-driven, evidence-informed decision-making within the organization

Experience & Qualification requirements:

  • Graduate degree in a relevant field of study, such as social sciences, public policy, and education
    Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in quantitative data collection and analysis, including some experience with programming languages for analysis (SPSS/ R and Python) and database querying (SQL)
  • Demonstrated experience designing, programming and analysing surveys, preferably in the context of youth and education; and survey tools (e.g., Qualtrics, Survey Monkey, Alida)
  • Experience conducting literature reviews and developing summaries
  • Strong knowledge of Statistics Canada data, including census data and associated methodologies
  • Strong familiarity with data visualization tools such as PowerBI and/or creating interactive dashboards
  • Strong written and communication skills with the ability to translate complex insights into accessible language.
  • Strong relationship-building and problem-solving skills
  • Highly organized and an exacting attention to detail
  • Self-motivated and enjoys a collaborative team environment.
  • Experience with program evaluation and/or knowledge of the Canadian education system is an asset
  • Fluency in French is an asset.
