Job Summary:
The Junior Data Analyst will support the Business Intelligence (BI) team in advancing the organization’s data strategy, analytics capabilities, and data management processes. This role is ideal for a current post-secondary student or recent graduate seeking hands-on experience in applied analytics, data visualization, and data governance. The successful candidate will gain exposure to real-world datasets, enterprise reporting tools, and cross-functional business processes.
Job responsibility:
Data Analysis & Reporting
Assist in building and maintaining dashboards and reports using Power BI.
Conduct basic data analysis using Excel, SQL, and/or Python/R.
Support the automation and enhancement of existing BI reports and data models.
Data Management & Governance
Clean, validate, and prepare datasets to improve data quality and usability.
Contribute to metadata documentation, data dictionaries, and governance practices.
Perform routine data quality checks and help track key data product utilization metrics.
Project Support
Assist team members with ongoing BI initiatives, including data integration, system enhancements, and reporting optimization.
Participate in team meetings and contribute to planning and prioritization discussions.
Prepare summary findings, charts, and written insights for internal stakeholders.
Collaboration & Communication
Work with team members across departments to gather requirements and clarify data needs.
Support training and documentation materials to improve data literacy across the organization.
Experience & Qualification requirements:
- Current student or recent graduate from a recognized post-secondary institution in: Data Analytics, Computer Science, Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Information Management or a related discipline
- Basic knowledge of data analysis tools such as Excel, SQL, Power BI, Python, or R.
- Familiarity with data visualization and reporting concepts.
- Understanding of data quality principles is an asset.
