Job Summary:
The Senior Manager Communications is responsible for shaping and implementing the organization’s communications strategy for both internal and external audiences. This role oversees, creates and edits key messaging and collateral, ensuring consistent, on-brand communications across the organization. The position acts as the project manager, editor, and principal writer for Pathways Canada’s major internal and external communications work.

Job responsibility:

  • Develop organizational key messaging to support our vision and mission, overseeing a library of current and approved collateral to support fundraising and program needs.
  • Oversee Pathways to Education’s storytelling content including approval of alumni and program success stories, research and evaluation content and internal newsletter.
  • Support marketing team in development of content as needed, including support with framing, messaging and scripting.
  • Working closely with the Interim Director, Marketing and Communications, create, review and approve all external-facing messaging, proposals and flagship marcomms projects (e.g. thought leadership whitepapers).
  • Lead major communications projects and external publications (e.g. Annual Report), overseeing copy, design, and editing.
  • Develop internal and external facing content including speeches, media briefs, FAQs, staff briefings, award submissions and other content as required.
  • Oversee strategic and tactical media/PR outreach to generate media opportunities and elevate the profile of the organization. Support with drafting media pitches, speaking notes, and media training of spokespeople.
  • Manage the activities of Manager, Communications and Specialist, Communications.

Experience & Qualification requirements:

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in communications or related experience
  • 5+ years’ experience working in a communications role
  • Strong oral, verbal, and written communication
  • Bilingualism in French/English preferred
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines while anticipating potential changes and adapting to further our mission
